More Shock with a bit of Dismay
Georgia Rep. John Lewis of the State of Georgia needs to shut the fuck up. Who the hell does he think he is? What the fuck does he really understand about what’s going other than the sensationalized BS that is coming up on our TV screens by a media that has to cut to commercials every 10 minutes. It sounds to me like he is trying to incite even further lawlessness, looting and even riots with us utterly stupid speech on the news this morning. He thinks that racism is to blame for the large number of blacks seen on the streets, while totally ignoring the plain fact that New Orleans is a city with a majority black population. If it’s anyone’s “fault” it’s his and people like him that instead of “doing” they stand around “blaming”. His inflamatory rhetoric almost made me sick to my stomach while he complained about the plight of “his” people. The plain fact is that all the people in N.O. are “our” people.
If the motherfucker was truly concerned why don’t he put his money where his mouth is and help organize some relief efforts from his state instead of mouthing off that people are being discriminated against in the wake of this immense national disaster. I have yet to see even a single moment of anything even remotely racist by the good and brave people that are risking their very health and lives to help the victims. Or, better yet tell us that he himself has put up the dough to pay for some sorely needed relief supplies and that he will be riding shotgun in the first truck to help unload the vehicles that could not only bring supplies in but help ferry people out. I can’t even believe that the media has given this idiot a voice over our airwaves, and before you criticise me for what I have to say, just know that I lived in Atlanta for over 20 years and I know a thing or two about John Lewis. We do not need more talking heads spewing utterly useless information about this situation.
One thing that we do need more of is people with level heads helping out and organizing with ideas and true leadership instead of finger pointing and laying blame. John Lewis needs to get his head out of his ass, or maybe better yet, stick it further in to a point where we can no longer hear his voice.

Bring it on. Here is my opinion be it as it may. I think everytime something happens and there are a large amounts of (please forgive me) black people or people of another race other than white they tend to take the heat. But on the flip side of that there are those who use that to their advantage also. They cry racism when it doesnt’ exist so it is like walking a thin line. I don’t in any way belive that this has anything to do with color black or white or any other race for that matter. I blame the Government for this, there shoud have been more aid a lot quicker than this. I wonder if some foriegn country had invaded our shores or in the example of 911 look how fast things were implimented then. Just something to think about.

The red cross has a safe list as does cnn.com alot of people have been listed. Two days ago there were only two pages. Last night when I looked there were 22. redcross.com/safelist and cnn.com tell people your safe. Its a link on the home page. If you know of anyone who needs a place to go. please let me know. I am more then happy to open my doors.

It pisses me off that anyone wants to even talk about the blame game. Right now people need help, and they need it NOW! We have human beings that are dying, stranded, hurt and oh so much more. TO ALL MEDIA, BIGMOUTHS, SHIT STARTERS, AND POLITICIANS….Either put up and do something that helps or shut the fuck up.

Truly racism does still exist and rears it ugly head often. But it truly it does not help anyone to accuse people of racism when there is no evidence or liklihood of it. I saw all manner of races and colors standing on rooftops and all equally trapped with no help forthcoming. Katrina showed no preferences. I do think, however, that blame will be found in a number of places and that we should absolutely duly address those issues now while the public is still paying attention. It’s the most likely way, politically, for things to actually get done and preventative measures to get underway for future disasters. I think our response here was unacceptable, especially for a first world country with all the resources that we have, that we cannot even save our own people from a known, predicted, and forewarned danger. It’s absolutely FEMA’s job to be ready for this kind of thing and I think by all means, heads should roll because obviously, they were not. It’s a horrible situation for all those stranded, many poor or elderly who had no way to leave with no federal or state aid to help them evacuate and now 5 days later still with little to no assistance, food, or water.
I’ve got nothing but contempt for those who take advantage of a tragedy to get on TV and shoot their stupid mouths off; everyone in this country with $ and/or influence/power should be using it to HELP, not get people more worked up!!
Most of the people at these press conferences are total idiots. This is all a disgrace. Thank god you have someone nice enough to open their home to you. I hope you hear about your grandmother and uncle soon, that must be just too much to bear not hearing anything. It sucks that your house may be destroyed but you got out and you’re ok. At this point you have to be thankful for at least that. We’re having an all things New Orleans party this weekend to celebrate our favorite place. We’ll toast to you as well.

I hate to even acknowledge I am from the same state that asshole is from. However, my mother who is 74 and does not cuss heard him over and over yesterday when they would show him and she was so angry she let a few words roll about him and what he should be doing. It was so funny to me and then when I told her well mom he is not even from N.O. but from Atlanta she really let it go. I just finished reading her your post. She said I like your friend he tells it like it is.
He really is a disgrace and this is not about race it is about not being prepared, poor judgement, poor leadership, and poor use of funds prior to this time.
